NEED A RIDE?
Transportation Options to/from/around Bainbridge Island
Buses from the Winslow ferry terminal: www.kitsaptransit.org or call 800-501-7433.
- Weekday afternoons: coordinated with Seattle/Bainbridge arrival 3 PM until 7:20 PM.
- Weekday mornings: coordinated with ferry departure 5:20 AM until 8:45 AM. Bainbridge/Seattle
- Weekends: There are NO BUSSES to and from the ferry ON WEEKENDS.
Taxi, local car rental co or Zipcar.com short term car rental:
- Taxis wait at the ferry terminal but it is always best to book ahead at one of the two taxi companies: (206-842-7660 or 206-842-1021). If there is room, you may be asked to share your ride with others in the same general area -- it’s island culture.
- Car rental on the island: local car rental company, Modern Collision (206-842-8053), charges around $25/day - $36.50/day for older model cars. Weekly/monthly rates available. Open weekdays only. Pick-up service available.
- Zipcar.com has a car parked at the Winslow ferry landing (and in many other locations in Western Washington). Last time we checked they charged $9/hour or you can sign up for a monthly charge that might end up being less, so this alternative could work out better than renting a car if you don't need a car all the time. 206-682-0107
Ferry:
- You can find schedule and fare information for the Seattle - Bainbridge ferry (or any ferry) at http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries or by calling 206-464-6400 (or 888-808-7977 in WA or BC).
- Generally speaking the ferry leaves from Seattle hourly (but not ON the hour) from 5:30 AM until 1:35 AM at night (or from 6:10 AM until 2:10 AM Sat/Sun/Holidays). Arrive at least 15 minutes before departure to purchase tickets. 35-minute ferry ride Seattle/Bainbridge. Galley on board the ferries for refreshments til 7:30 PM.
- Fares and sailing times vary seasonally. Check for the latest details at the link above.
Transportation Options from SeaTac airport to the Seattle Colman Dock (Winslow/Bainbridge Island) ferry terminal:
- Rental Car: All national rental car companies have kiosks at SeaTac. Book ahead. Car/driver rates on the ferries are seasonal and based on the length of the car. Click here for current fares.
- Taxi Queue in the parking lot at SeaTac. Plan on $40 before tip to Coleman Dock, Winslow Ferry.
- Limousine Service: Book ahead, call when arrive:
- J. Singh at 206-769-1949, jandstowncar_limousine@hotmail.com or through www.jandstowncar.com -- 24 hr service and charges approximately $30 - $40 for 1 - 4 people
- Airport Towncar & Express Shuttle at 206-979-7915/206-439-1013 for about the same (or slightly less if you are only one person).
- Hotel Shuttle**: Another less expensive option if you don't have too much luggage is to take the airport bus that goes to the downtown hotels for about $15/person and hop off at the Alexis hotel (about 4 blocks walk to the ferry) or any other hotel near the ferry (ask the driver which one they arrive at first since they might arrive at Alexis later on their route). **This bus does NOT run at night.
- Light Rail to the Pioneer Square station and then walk three blocks or take taxi from the Light Rail station to the Winslow Ferry, Coleman Dock. Plan for a 40 minutes - 1 hour ride as there are several stations along the way. Note: Be prepared for an extensive walk to the Light Rail Station at SEATAC and from the Pioneer Square Station to the Winslow Ferry.
